LVDT-diaphragm combination

A vacuum gage is to use an LVDT-diaphragm combination like that shown in Fig. 6.14. The LVDT has a sensitivity of 2.5 nm, and the diaphragm is to be constructed of steel (E = 2 × 1011 Pa, μ = 0.3) with a diameter of 15 cm. Calculate the diaphragm thickness in accordance with the restriction that the maximum deflection does not exceed one-third this thickness. What is the lowest pressure which may be sensed by this instrument?
