The annular venturimeter is useful for metering flows in pipe systems for which upstream calmingdistances are limited. The annular venturimeter consists of a cylindrical section mounted inside a pipe asshown in the figure. The pressure difference is measured between the upstream pipe and at the regionadjacent to the cylindrical section. Air at standard conditions flows in the system. The pipe diameter is 4inches. The ratio of the cylindrical section diameter to the inside pipe diameter is 0.8. A pressure differenceof 3 inches of water is measured. Find the volume flow rate in the system. Assume the flow isincompressible, inviscid, and steady and that the velocity is uniformly distributed across the pipe sections.
