A beam of length, L, equal to 18.0 inches and height, h, equal to 0.200 inches is fixed at one end and subjected to loading, within elastic limits, at the other, like the figure above. Strain gages with a transverse sensitivity, Kt, of +1.1% were applied, as shown above, at a distance, x, of 11.0 inches from the fixed end. The gage factor of the strain gages used was determined on a specimen with a Poisson's ratio, v0, of 0.285. The displacement, delta , of the free end was controlled and values of microstrain (ebsoline x 10^-6 or mue) were measured in the longitudinal, x, direction and transverse, y, direction at each known displacement. This information is provided in the table below. Complete the table: correct the measured strains for transverse sensitivity errors, compute the Poisson's ratio based on the corrected strains, and compute the theoretical longitudinal strain at the location of the strain gages. (Answers should contain three significant digits.)
