perspective of diversity

In the United States, there is a common proverb—the golden rule—that reads, "treat others as you want to be treated." The implicit assumption in this well known statement is that how you want to be treated is how others want to be treated as well. However, when we consider this proverb from a perspective of diversity in the workplace, we need to ask ourselves, "What does desirable treatment look like? Does it look the same for everyone?"
