1. One could argue that the traditional gender role of men as protector and provider and women as wives and mother have become blurred and interchangeable. Using class readings to support your augment, discuss whether or not you find the blurring of gender roles to be a positive move toward gender equality or hazardous to the traditional American family dynamic.
2. As human beings we often take comfort in aligning ourselves with those who think, dress, and look as we do; from these factors it seems we form a large part of our personal identify. Would you argue that deriving so much of one’s identify from those considered culturally, ethnically, and politically the same prevents us from identifying with the perspectives and ways of life of those we see as “other”?
