An equiangular strain gage rosette is mounted on a free and unloaded surface of a component
Â
An equiangular strain gage rosette is mounted on a free and unloaded surface of a component. The strains obtained from the rosette are ϵ0 = -0.0005 m/m, ϵ120 = +0.0003 m/m, and ϵ240 = +0.001 m/m. Gage orientation angles are measured counterclockwise. Find the magnitude and orientation (with respect to the 0° gage), of the principal strains and check the results by plotting a Mohr circle.
