Research has indicated that “levels of job satisfaction accounted for only about 2 percent of the differences in performance levels across employees..” Another study found the number to be 3 percent. However, despite the evidence, it is necessary to consider such work attitudes as job satisfaction as having an effect on work behaviors. Research indicates that work attitudes (such as job satisfaction) affect work behaviors only when employees are free to vary their behaviors and when an employee’s attitude is relevant to the behavior in question. Your textbook follows this argument with several examples. Once you have read the selection in the text, construct both pro and con arguments.
