Cooling water is pumped from a reservoir for equipment at a construction job site
Cooling water is pumped from a reservoir for equipment at a construction job site by using the pipe system shown. The flow rate required is 600 gpm and water must leave the spray nozzle at 120 fps. Determine the minimum pressure needed at the pump outlet. Estimate the required motor power if the pump efficiency is 75%. Note that aluminum pipes have similar average roughness as drawn tubing. The diameter shown is the pipe inner diameter.
