Objective:To extend your project management skills developed in your first assignment by

solving a resource problem.

Background:Senior management would consider completing the project by reducing

35% of its total original budget (as specified in Assignment 1). You need to

create a revised project plan, which should provide a high level discussion of

the potential and implications of undertaking the project with the imposed

constraint. Again, your project plan must consist of a minimum of15 major

activities (significant components of work) however this can be expanded.

The project should involve a team of at least (but not limited to) five persons

and can relate to either business or not-for-profit events. This report should

include schedule, cost, resource and risk aspects. Consider the assignment as a

‘pitch’ to senior management for final approval prior to commencement.

Your assignment task

1. Provide the background of your project and the project objectives. This part is worth 2 marks and

although it has been done in the first assignment it is expected that scope and background may

have changed.

2. Provide revised project budget/cost (including integrated model of WBS and OBS). Explain why

you have made the revision and what has been revised. You should write this part in no more than

600 words. This part is worth 10 marks.

3. Provide revised project network and Gantt chart. Explain why you have made the revision and

what has been revised. You should write this part in no more than 600 words. This part is worth 8marks.

4. Incorporate and explain the role, impacts and relationships relating to the ‘soft skills’ of the project

and how these will be integrated with Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Communication, Procurement

and resource constraints. You should write this part in no more than 1000 words. This part is worth

12 marks.

5. Identify the risks associated with the revised plan and create a new risk management plan for the

revised project plan. Explain why you have made the revision and what has been revised. You

should write this part in no more than 800 words. This part is worth 8 marks.

Your project plan must have the following headings:Background,Budget/Costing,Project Network

and Schedule, andRisk Management. Also, contents under Heading 1, graphs, tables and appendices

are not included in word count. All contents in appendices (including graphs and tables in appendices)

will be assessed providing they support the explanation of your project plan.

The project plan needsreferences. You should adopt a Harvard style (Author, date) referencing style.

NB: Marks will be deducted where referencing is not evident.

Use your Study Guide, the textbook and other given materials to assist in the completion of your report.

Note:A report-style approach is used. Consider this assignment to be your submission on the design and

development of your project plan.
