WEEK -4
"Entrepreneurial Marketing"
"Entrepreneurial Growth"
Case Analysis: Maker's Mark
Company Research Paper
The next five assignments allow you to: invent an entrepreneurial company and research it; develop financial pro forma; do an executive summary and elevator speech; and, as the capstone of the project, develop an exciting presentation for investors.
This assignment is your project proposal. You will propose the company to be formed, provide preliminary information about it, and discuss how you will research its viability and strategy.
Write a 2-4 page (APA style) paper on the new enterprise, not including the title page, abstract, and reference page. The body of the paper should contain at least the following seven sections:
Company & Product
Description
Industry
Customer
Competitor Analysis
Marketing Plan Research
Primary and Secondary Research

WEEK-5
Financial Spreadsheet Templates"
Building Your Pro-Forma Financial Statements"
Case: P'kolino Financials
This case is the financial exhibits from the P'kolino case analyzed in a previous lesson. It is on pages 325-336 of the text. The P'kolino financials are pretty detailed; they should begin to acquaint the new entrepreneur with the sort of financial planning needed to get a substantial enterprise off the ground. Please pay special attention to the financial assumptions—numbers alone are just gobbledegook. They need to be based on real assumptions connecting projections to the real world.
Please answer the following questions in the discussion:
How do the common-sized income sheet ratios compare to industry standards? Can you explain the variances in a way the makes the projections seem sound?
How do the revenues per employee compare to industry standards? Again, can you explain the variances?
Do the financial projections accurately capture all the expenses that are implied in the written plan (refer back to the previous case)?
Is the proposed financing sufficient to cover the company's cash flow needs? What happens if sales are not as high or quick to materialize as expected?
No student needs to answer all of these questions in their first post. Address one or two and let other students pick up the others.
A list of key assumptions that drive your financial model. It is strongly encouraged that you find comparable companies and use industry ratios to justify your assumptions. Assumptions should be on one of the pages of the spreadsheet workbook. ONLY SUBMIT ONE FILE!
Year 1: Monthly and year-end income statements and cash flows; and a year-end balance sheet.

Financing Entrepreneurial Ventures"
"Raising Money for Starting and Growing Businesses"
Debt and Other Forms of Financing"
Financial Plan Final Draft
Continued from last week. Complete the remainder of the plan by developing the following:
Year 2: Quarterly income statements and cash flows; year-end balance sheet.
Years 3-5: Year end statements of income, cash flow and balance sheet. (Note: if you are using the Moyes template go to 5 years; if you used the SCORE template, it only goes to 3 years—don't jump through hoops to do years 4 and 5.
Note: Use the same spreadsheet you started with last week. Hopefully you used one of the available templates and this is just a matter of adding on more years. Be sure to include the key assumptions from last week on one of the sheets of the workbook.
Please combine both assignments into the final draft which includes the components in this order:
A list of key assumptions that drive your financial model. It is strongly encouraged that you find comparable companies and use industry ratios to justify your assumptions.
Year 1: Monthly and year-end income statements and cash flows; year-end balance sheet.
Year 2: Quarterly income statements and cash flows; year-end balance sheet.
Years 3-5: Year end statements of income, cash flow and balance sheet.
