catch error conditions

I have a project due that I don't understand how to write. I'm new to programming and my online teacher is no help. Heres the questions I don't understand how do I proram this using VC++.

PASS BY VALUE FUNCTIONS,

1, Day of the Week: Write a function that has an integer as a parameter. The function will return a string that represents the day of the week. If the parameter is a 1, the function will return the string A????1MondayA????1. If the parameter is not between 1 and 7 the function should return "ERROR" Write a driver program to test your function. You are required to use a switch statement in your function. Use the default case to catch error conditions.

NOTE: for string variables use:
