essay review

check grammar, sentence structure, flow... And I want you to evaluate my essay and give suggestion how to change it better (specifically)

Please tell us more about your interest in transferring. Why does Brown appeal to you as a college option? Who or what has influenced your decision to apply? (300 word limit)

I am doing 3-2 engineering program( 3 years in liberal art college and 2 yearsin other engineering schools) in my current school. I chose this track because I felt I can have better understanding in both liberal art and engineering field. But now I feel like this program does not fit for me since I lose my freedom to choose courses that I want. Because there are a lots of prerequisite to take in order to pursue this program, I have not much choices to take courses that I want. Even though I want to take courses in art, history, African studies, music I can’t take these classes if I want to finish the program within 3 years.

Brown’s open curriculum policygives a perfect solution for my situation. Since Brown’s open curriculum enables for me to combine engineering program with other offerings in in the arts, humanities and social sciences, I don’t have to worry about fulfilling immense amount of prerequisite at the expense of my various interests. I believe I can better confront inevitable changes in technology and handle problems related to thisby taking various courses. Not to mention Brown’s diverse community, world-renowned professors, leading research programs. With these classmates and professors from all over the world,I can share my passion inengineering and humanities and social sciences.

Describe what academic field(s) you wish to pursue at Brown, how you came upon that interest, and any post-graduation career plans you may have considered. (500 word limit)

If I ask Siri – intelligent personal assistant—about  “ are Mexicans bad people?” Siri just answers, “interest questions.” This, seemingly idle hands, shows the current address of our technology and the direction where our current technology should head to.  It shows that Siri has developed so far that it does give answer related to question at least, compared to past years that it would just show Wikipedia result of Mexico. But it also shows that Siri cannot answer to the question related to moral dilemmas.

As many movies already portrayed, when Siri answers this question, “they are bad people so we have to build walls,” the future of human being will be full of gloom. This, artificial intelligence, is only one facet of the development of technology. Because of this, I believe engineers not only need skills to develop algorithms and design complex systems, but also need to have knowledge on humanities, especially philosophical area. I believe when technology develops under the standard of benefit for all mankind, not for only few people’s interest, technology will eventually make world better place to live; reduce inequalities, control environmental problems, enhance quality of living. I hope I can take the lead in this change.

Brown’s Bachelor of Arts in Engineering fulfills my need and hope. It guarantees for me to have knowledge in both engineering and liberal arts area. With its greatest flexibility, I can take classes what I believe it will best prepare me for the future. I can take the courses on designing programs while taking philosophy course that discuss about morals. Moreover, The Entrepreneurship and Technology Management Track in The C.V. Starr Program in Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations (BEO) will also bring me more benefits. I would have an outstanding opportunity to get good sense in the theories and methods of a variety of disciplines applied in the context of national and international commerce, organizations, and entrepreneurship. It will teach me how to deal technology in the sense of business area.

By having knowledge in engineering, humanities, and business field, I will be ready to take challenges after I graduate. I will have professional skills how to make algorithm, write codes and build artificial intelligence like “Siri.” Additionally, I will be able to resolve the moral dilemma that AI confronts.Lastly, I will be able to spread this technology to reduce inequalities and lead world to better place. Attending Brown University will bring me all of these things, which will aid me in becoming entrepreneur, engineer and humanitarianI can possibly be.
