Preferred Learning
Reflect on your preferred learning theory as 1) a learner and 2) a teacher, trainer, or facilitator. Share your reflection, including reasons why you might prefer one theory over another for the two different roles.
For example, as a learner, you may prefer schema theory, one of the information processing theories, because you see your personal learning occurring as pieces of content that are placed within slots of your current knowledge. A relevant metaphor would be shelving library books; we fit new books in between related books already on the shelf. As a teacher/trainer/facilitator, though, you may prefer the cognitive learning theories because you believe that the learner is an active participant and that the focus of instruction should be the cognitive processes that occur between instruction and learning.
