Finding and Evaluating Background Information (Guided Search)

Assignment 1: Finding and Evaluating Background Information (Guided Search)

For this assignment you will need to find two authoritative and reliable sources of background information on your topic and evaluate each using the CRAAP (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose) criteria as well as the points of criteria outlined in Chapter 6 of the Badke text, from your assigned readings this week. There are multiple steps to this assignment, so please read the instructions carefully and review them as needed.

Attached are the outline for the assignment

The CRAAP Guide & Chapter 6 (Badke Text)

I already found two sources (SAGE Reference & Blackwell Reference) (attached as well), I simply do not understand how to go about writing this information.

My topic is Law, Crime techniques for prevention / technology advantages (broad topic)

Email from instructor: If one of your sources this week is an eBook that is no problem. And skimming is fine; you don't have to read the whole thing. The instructions direct you to e-reference sources which is a subset of eBooks:

"3. In the Selected E-Book Collections box, click on E-Reference"

Also, just to clarify, e-books and e-references are both types of sources. You aren't specifically analyzing the sources they are based on (as there could be dozens of those).

So, in a nutshell, find two sources in accordance with the instructions, annotate them (i.e., what is it about?), evaluate them (i.e., why is it credible?), and list your notes on your search path of how you found them. Probably a two page assignment.
