• Assignment: Essay #2 The Lean Startup Book Report
  In this essay you will write a book report on The Lean Startup by Eric Ries that includes not only a summary of key points from the book but you will also apply the learnings to your group business idea. This is an individual exercise. If you need help in writing your essay, it is highly recommended that you leverage the resources available at the FIU Center for Excellence in Writing.
  • In your introduction, summarize the book and describe key lessons you learned.
  • Describe the core concepts “Validated Learning”, “Built-Measure-Learn” and “Innovation Accounting” in detail using examples found both in the book and real-life.
  • Describe and give examples of Ries’s 3 Learning Milestones.
  • Provide at least one example of a real company that recently pivoted.
  • Describe which parts of the book’s philosophy make sense to you and which ones you think might be flawed.
  • Explain how the key ideas from The Lean Startup can be applied to help ensure the success of the business you worked on in the group project. Mention the leaps of faith that would need to be taken.
  • Give examples of other businesses that could benefit from leveraging The Lean Startup principles.
  • Include a cover page with name, date, email and your unique LinkedIn URL.
  • Use direct quotes from the book as well as quotes from outside sources (Make sure to cite your sources). 
  • 1,200 word minimum, single spaced, and 12 point Times New Roman font.
  Make sure to use approved in-text citations and include a separate page with your “Works Cited” list in MLA format.
