In Poe's tale The Imp of the Perverse, the narrator confesses to a crime without being coerced.
Poe divides the tale into two parts, the 1st haft is an essay, while the 2nd haft is a short story.
One can argue that the imp represents either the narrator's conscience or a case of insanity.
Construct a formal thesis in the first line choosing between the arguments of his conscience or insanity defense and begin to use the text to prove your thesis right.
No more than two paragraphs.
Remember also to construct 2 topic sentences, use quotes, list of examples, and comment upon the quotes in responding to this assignment.
Highlight some of the evidence from the text that illustrate that the narrator's conscience or insanity are responsible for his confession.
