Essay and outline on the following question: How are racial stereotypes used in the media?

Essay and outline on the following  question:    How are racial stereotypes used in the media?

Needs an outline that complies to the following rubric:

Submit a proposal for your final paper. This document should include a thesis question related to the course material. This question should not be answerable with a simple yes or no response. For example, "Does racism still exist?"  Propose what, how, or why questions, such as, "How is residential segregation perpetuated in the post-civil rights era?" to circumvent this problem. Second, students should propose a thesis statement that directly answers the aforementioned thesis question. Third, each outline should include an introduction, three substantive sections supporting the thesis statement, sub-points related to each substantive section, and a conclusion. The sub-points should be a minimum of 2-3 sentences in length and the conclusion a full paragraph. Finally, students should include a reference section that includes at least four academic-related sources (see attached example for formatting).

All outlines should be three-pages in length, and include a title page, substantive page (thesis question/statement, body paragraph summary, conclusion), and reference page (APA formatted). see attached example of outline.

The paper  should include a few of these objectives:

1. Conceptualize immigration processes

2. Distinguish between types of capital

3. Understand advantages and disadvantages associated with ethnic networks

4. Identify prejudices motivating ethnic/race-based immigration laws

5. Differentiate between ethnic-based immigration laws

6. Articulate the racial/ethnic history of U.S. immigration legislation

7. Evaluate U.S. cultural traditions

8. Critically examine the relationship between science and Native American populations

1. Distinguish between prejudice and discrimination

2. Identify multiple dimensions of ethnic-based prejudice

3. Differentiate types of discrimination

4. Apply self-categorization theory to everyday life

5. Compare and contrast theories of prejudice and discrimination

6. Discriminate between assimilation and pluralism

7. Demonstrate various types of assimilation

8. Discuss factors influencing the assimilation process

9. Classify pluralistic systems

10. Depict assimilation and pluralism with a real world example

1. Distinguish ethnicity from race

2. Explain race as a social construct

3. Conceptualize racism

4. Identify different forms of racism

5. Define ethnic stratification system

6. Delineate different modes of power exercised by dominant ethnic groups

7. Conceptualize the formation of ethnic stratification

8. Differentiate minority responses to subordination

Final Research Paper:

The paper for this class is a five page minimum, and seven page maximum ORIGINAL paper on domestic (U.S.) or international race relations that includes cover and reference pages.  The paper needs to have a minimum of five professional references derived from a peer-reviewed academic journal. Feel free to use any of the peer-reviewed articles I have posted in the student resources folder.  The paper should be written following the APA 6th edition found in the online library.  Each paper should be thoughtful, answer a specific question about topic related to this course, and be "original" in thought.  A paper that answers a specific question will be more likely to demonstrate your understanding of the sociological concepts explored in this course and your ability to apply these concepts in thinking about the world in which you exist.

Guidelines:It is strongly suggested that the grading rubric be used in writing the research paper.5 to 7 pages in length (not including cover or reference page)3 – 5 professional references (one must come from a professional journal)Use library search (ProQuest)APA 6th editionTitle pageText (in text citations)Reference Page1 inch marginsDouble spaced (no additional paragraph spacing)etcThird personCollege level writing skillsNo Wikipedia, ask.com or similar websites
