Write a brainstorm on the following questions:
*What causes war?
*What traits do you imagine might correlate with war?
Use all levels of analysis to think this through.
Â
Here is help;
Not mutually exclusive but I want you to think of both
1) things that you couldn’t *see* necessarily to predict a war but you think may be behind most onset of conflict.Â
2) situations/categories/resources/environments etc that you would imagine would have a higher rate of conflict onset (if we had to—like BDM—guess where war onset was most/least probable, what factors would you think of) (things that tend to correlate with conflict)
If everything were equal otherwise, what factors increase risk
 what might we expect would explain the decision to use war as a means of coercion rather than alternatives?
EXAMPLES:
Individual factors: human aggression
State factors: harmful national traits
(you are ready for this one)Â System factors: instability in structure
