Thesis Statement: Diversity is something that affects everything and everyone in life. Someone can look at diversity as something that should give us a clear view of how the workplace really is and how discrimination is a serious problem. Diversity can be described as a variety of good fruit in a basket that all do the same thing in satisfying your needs in a healthy way.

Question(s)/Issues Begin Addressed:

I.What is diversity in the workplace.

A.What diversity is considered in the workplace.

1.From being from skin color, sex, age and even college educated personal.

2.It creates competitive competition within a company, but can also lead to negativity between co-workers.

B.What federal laws protects workers for equal employment opportunities.

1.Title VII of the Civil Rights act of 1964, as amended, applies to business within 15 or more employees.

2.Diversity initiatives require employers to develop and implement race, ethnicity, and sex conscious employment conscious employment practices. – Nissen

 

II. Does diversity lead to discrimination?

A.What is discrimination in the workplace?

1.From lack of experience, having foreign credentials, race, and religion.

2.It makes the workplace an unfriendly environment and the turnover rate is much higher.

B. Can workplace discrimination be prevented?

1. Proper Human resource involvement can lead to less discrimination in the workplace.

III.Is diversity training helpful in the workplace?

1. Is a process created by a company to educate employees the correct way to treat people from different backgrounds.

2.Its role is to create inclusion and a healthy work environment for all employees.

1.A management process that allows companies to leverage diversity and benefit from it.

2.Is a management strategy that utilizes the best practices to create an inclusive workplace that promotes diversity. – Manus.

 

IV.Can diversity be a challenge?

A.What is a challenge that diversity might cause?

1.It becomes a challenge when instead of working together someone rather not work with someone because they are different.

2.Diversity is something that some individuals fear and do not want to tackle the issue because it involves such things as race, sex, and color.

B.Is there success in diversity?

1.A lot of good things can come from people working together no matter how different they may look or act.

2.Success happens to good and positive people who do what they have to do in life to be successful no matter if they are different they work together to be great together. –Ribbon.
