As the kitchen manager, several members of your staff have come to you to let you know that they are offended by the personal photos and calendars hung in the back of the kitchen that are sexual in nature. Some of these items have been given to the staff from suppliers. The objects hung do not belong to just one individual and are making your other staff members uncomfortable. The other staff members asked for the items to be taken down and have even taken them down themselves, but that has caused more items to be hung up in their place.

The members who have approached you are very upset, and one has even threatened to leave.

Based on the situation and your knowledge of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) description of sexual harassment, you decide to hold a meeting to discuss what is happening.

To emphasize the importance of adhering to the work place policies and Civil Rights Act, you will create a 500 to 700 word handout, adhering to APA style for all employees summarizing the following:

  • Summarize the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the EEOC's definition of sexual harassment, specifically on the way it relates to your specific work situation.
