no more than one paragraph what the basic plot,

Fairy Tale Analysis- The Golden Bird

  1. no more than one paragraph what the basic plot, (I.E. A little girl goes to visit her grandmother and faces danger and hardship.) and how your paper seems to have a basic lesson.
  2. The rest of your paper must focus on the deeper lesson of the story.  (This you will have to look for focusing mainly on how the basic plot helps you understand the deeper meaning.)  Read this example closely: Little Red Riding Hood is about growing up, and no longer being oblivious to danger and seemingly innocent statements—everything done in that story is innocent to a child but what happens at the end is that everything done leads her to having to make adult decisions.  One of the metaphors of that story is how her beauty is an illusion, and what is under the surface is a lot more frightening, and most people are unable to see it.  This is a lot like the wolf who has a type of seductive beauty, but we can’t see what is under the surface.
  3. If you have not read the supplementary readings, read them, you will have to quote one time from each.  You will also have to quote from your Fairytale.
  4. You should also read the reading:  “How to Write an Analysis of a Short Story" http://www.csun.edu/~hbeng112/098/howtowriteshortstoryanalysis.pdf
  5. Your paper must contain a works cited at the end of it for the supplementary readings and for your fairy tale.
  6. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2591/2591-h/2591-h.htm#link2H_4_0002
  7. Remember to use examples from your fairytale as evidence.
