1-TIME returns a decimal number for a particular time the user wants. The times range from 0:00:00 to 23:59:59 which is military time. Serial numbers are yielded from a certain date and applies to the TIME function. The user can also input a date and time in a cell, which will yield from that time on that day forward. Inputting hour, minute and seconds represents a number from 0 to 32767. For hours anything higher than 23 is divided by 24 then the remaining number is an hour, for minutes anything higher than 59 is converted into hours and minutes and is the same for seconds greater than 59 converts into hours, minutes and seconds. To say the time is 4:00 am the user would input TIME (4,0,0). I use this to separate time from sales from one column to two columns at work. I do not see any cons with TIME; it’s a pretty basic function that returns a time for the user.
The COUNT function will count the amount of cells in a range. This function works well with determining the amount of transactions or sales made by an individual in a certain amount of cells in a range. Using this at work, I could look up the sales an operator has made on a certain register and use the COUNT function to return the results I want such as total sales for one operator. This worked well for me when I was in asset protection and the COUNT function would help me zero in on transactions for an individual if I were performing an internal investigation on them. I do not see too many cons other than sometimes there is a lot of massive different information I go through at work and it does not always sort it how I want it too.
The paste special commands inserts contents from the users clipboard in a HTML, Unicode Text or Text to the excel sheet. The user can also paste a link and also display as an icon. Paste special also gives options to paste formulas, values, formats, comments, validation, and column widths. The options also give a operation to do mathematics as well such as add, subtract, multiply and divide. The cons, for me, is sometimes excel overcomplicates things. I rarely need to use the paste special option because I can move quicker without it in my worksheets.
2-The time function of excel simply returns the decimal number for a specified time. In order to produce a decimal number to represent the time, a number must be entered between the ranges of 0 to 32767. Also, in order to obtain the result, the hour, minute, and second must also be represented. The time function can also turn a traditional formatted time (example: 12:30) into a decimal number.
A common use of the time function is to add or subtract times. For example if you wanted to know how long it took in hours to complete a project, you could enter the start time and the end time and then supply a subtraction formula to get the final result.
The count function returns a value of cells that contain information you are looking for. You can also specify the count function to return values that contain a specific number. I think the more widely used version of the count function is the COUNTIF function. For example, you can command excel to return the number of cells that equal to 100 by entering the following formula: COUNTIF(A1:A200,100).
A common use of the count or countif function are to quickly return values when you are searching for a particular result.
The paste special command allows the user to paste complex items from and to excel into other applications such as word, or another excel worksheet or workbook. There are multiple "special" paste options such as formula only, formatting, formula and format, value and number formats, all, values only, picture, etc.
One use that I commonly use is to paste excel tables into power-point as a picture. By doing this I can easily manipulate the size of the table and keep the same formatting without having to reformat within power point.
