                                                   Group Presentation

Each group will research and present the economic history of two decades in United States history. While I realize that  decades are an artificial cutoff point, you will find many events that influenced the economy in each ten year period. Considerations should include Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, unemployment, inflation, international trade considerations, and currency valuation. Included in these are fiscal policy by the government and monetary policy from the Federal Reserve. Each student will speak for fifteen minutes on his/her portion of the group presentation, utilizing a well researched power point as an aid.. When the presentation is complete, I expect the class will have a good idea of what went on economically during that era. I attempt to grade students on an individual basis, but a cohesive group tends to improve all grades.

1960s: Kennedy’s New Frontier, Space Race, LBJ’s War on Poverty, Vietnam War

1970s: End of Vietnam War, Nixon’s Wage/Price controls, End of Bretton Woods, Stagflation
