  • The purpose of this project is to become familiar with some contemporary artists, with an emphasis on Canadian artists (the majority of artists on this list is Canadian) to help balance the more American-based selections of our textbook. All students are expected to read ALL of their classmates' entries, to visit the recommended websites, and to post a brief (approximately 250 words) and thoughtful response to at least two of the entries: what do you think of the artist's work?  What impresses you, or what do you find especially interesting or powerful--or not--about the artist's work?  If you dislike an artist's work and wish to post an objection to it, this is entirely fine, as long as it is done respectfully and thoughtfully. In either case (pro or con re. the artist's work) you need to justify your opinions with reference to the work itself.
