Interview Suggestions and Tips

 

STEP1:Research,research,research. Thenresearchsomemore. The onlywaytocome upwith goodquestionsis toknoweverything thereis toknowaboutyoursubject.

 

STEP2: Contactthe personyouwishto interview.Askwhenagoodtimewouldbetodothe interview. Be polite!Say"please"and"thankyou."Trytosetuptheinterviewinperson. If thisisn't possible,thensetupaphoneinterview.

 

STEP3:Readoveryourresearchandbrainstormalistof 15questions. Themorespecificyour questionsarethe better!Andneverask questions thatcanbeansweredwithasimpleyesorno. Makeyourintervieweetalk!Besuretowriteall yourquestionsdowninanotebook,thenpractice asking themwithapartner. Becomeveryfamiliarwithyourquestionsbeforeyougointothe interview.

 

STEP4: Arrive preparedwith writing or recording materials. If you plan to use a recording device, always ask permission before recording the interview.Evenifyouarerecording aninterview,take notes

 

STEP5: Arriveatyourinterviewwithplenty of timetospare. Ifyou’ve neverbeen tothe placewhereyourinterviewis taking place,goearlyandscoutitout. Youcanalsousethetimeyouarewaiting tomake notes aboutthesurroundings. Youwon’trememberdetailslater,sowritethem down.
