This scholarly and peer-review article looks at outsourcing from the HR perspective. Outsourcing can prove to be more superior, less expensive and quicker than doing everything internally. The article states that an outsourcer clearly has little or no control over its supplier, so it must do the necessary homework and choose carefully. Single or multiple providers? Another potential dilemma. Will a longer-term partnership flourish with age or could familiarity and security eventually breed contempt? Electing to outsource can also mean running the risk of upsetting those who matter most the customers. At the end of the day, subcontracting out services is not a decision to be taken lightly. I intend to use this article as a tool to weigh the pros and con of outsourcing. I obtained the article from the Hunt Library, so I am confident on its credibility. I also believe that the information, although older, is still relevant.

This section of the book is a scholarly article that concentrates on outsourcing from the Data Protection Act perspective. It looks at outsourcing from a legal standpoint. The article is a scholarly article and is peer reviewed. I obtained it from the Hunt Library, so I have the full confidence of its credibility. Although the book was published in 2005, I like to use a chronological and historical approach to my research. Therefore, this article will be a good historical support.

This article sheds light on the historical beginning of the outsourcing “modern outsourcing” trend per say before 2005, and during the president decades, the outsourcing of marketing operations has become a common practice in American college athletics. While the reasons that an intercollegiate athletics program might choose to outsource its marketing operations are numerous, the decision to do so really depends on various circumstances. This study was designed to reveal both the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing and the circumstantial factors affecting athletic administrators' outsourcing decisions. Similarly, three real cases were presented and examined to substantiate motives as well as the importance of reviewing circumstantial factors before an outsourcing decision is made. I intend to use the example, Although it pertains to athletics and not business as a contrast and how trends tend to travel between industries.

This article makes the point that the last decade has seen considerable concern regarding a shortage of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workers to meet the demands of the labor market. At the same time, many experts have presented evidence of a STEM worker surplus. A comprehensive literature review, in conjunction with employment statistics, newspaper articles, and interviews with company recruiters, reveals a significant heterogeneity in the STEM labor market: the academic sector seems oversupplied, while the government sector and private industry have shortages in specific areas. I intend to use this article to put this issue into perspective and test my hypothesis. I retrieved the article from the US Department of Labor website, so it is a credible source.

The objective of this article is to provide the classical vocabulary on the topic, a short analysis of the state of the art of global outsourcing in the late 2000s. China is a good example of an emerging country in the early 1970s and a review of the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing over the medium and long term. I obtained the article from the Hunt Library, so I am confident on it credibility. I intend to use this definition at the beginning of my paper as part of my introduction.

This scholarly and peer-review article concentrates on a different perspective. It analyzes the way in which outsourcing manufacturing and design work relate to performance at the plant level. The study is based on a large-scale survey among a representative sample of Swedish engineering plants. The results show no significant effects from outsourcing manufacturing on plant operating performance. The paper further shows that investments in technological and organizational capabilities explain the improvements in performance to a significantly greater extent than does outsourcing. I obtained the article from the Hunt Library so it is a credible source and I intend to use it to compare and contrast the outsourcing in the US to the global perspective.

This article focuses on the outsourcing of the work of high-tech and, increasingly, research professionals and the controversy that it is has created and the debate this trend has started over globalization's impact on the US and its policies for innovation and international competitiveness. The article also explains that outsourcing is intricate to arrange and has had its failures and disappointments. But on the whole, it opens new markets, gives American companies foreign toeholds, lowers labor costs, and widens access to fresh ideas. It also puts good high-tech people out of work. The article goes further to explain that outsourcing would not have become so popular if not for modern telecommunications driven by the Internet. Broadband communication has made possible the transfer of mathematically and graphically complex data so that collaborations can be established without leaving one's lab. Ernest Gilmont, who has been teaching innovation and R&D management at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton and Engineering Schools, believes not only in going with the outsourcing flow but going it one better. The article is ten years old but is still relevant. I intend to use this article as a counter argument. I obtained the article from the Hunt Library from the scholarly and peer-review section, so I have confidence in its credibility.

This article discusses if the question of the merits of outsourcing facilities management remains relevant. This paper attempts to determine a clear distinction between out-tasking and outsourcing, and then to provide a model to explain the advantages (pros) and disadvantages (cons) of this strategy by analyzing the wants of both the client and supplier. Finally, it offers some guidance to assist with remedying the divergence identified. I intend to use the information from this article to debate to pros and cons of outsourcing. This scholarly and peer-review article explains that overseas outsourcing of jobs is far more complicated than is commonly understood. There are pressures to outsource range from better-serving overseas markets to increasing the competitiveness of American business. Outsourcing domestic and international responds to management's desire to focus the firm's in-house activities on its core competence. A negative side to outsourcing results from companies doing so simply because “everybody is doing it.” They may be surprised by accompanying factors such as unexpected costs and complications, as well. Governmental policymakers need to realize that foreign companies outsource more business services to the United States than American firms send overseas. I intend to use this article to explain and support my opinion that outsourcing is more complicated than we might want to think. If we want to fix the current job issues we are facing as a nation, we need to look at the whole picture. I obtained the article from the Hunt Library, so I am confident on its credibility.
